The Solution To Your Social Media Struggles

Okay, the solution may be slightly dramatic. But it’s definitely a solution. One I happen to love, too. It turns out I’m a List Girl. Pretty sure I made that up, so now it’s a thing. We’re non-discriminatory, so if you’re a List Guy, you’re welcome in the club, too.

I wish I could tell you this List Club is something really cool and exciting, but alas: we’re just people who like lists. We like them – wait, I can only speak for myself – I like them because they bring order to my slightly super chaotic brain.

There are lists on my phone for everything. Short term goals. Long term goals. Daily to-do lists. Shopping lists. Books to read lists. Places I want to visit/live lists. Character names lists. Book titles, quotes, songs… you get it.

Then the lists that can be put into my phone’s calendar get programmed (with reminder alerts). Plank for 60 secs at 9am. Call chiropractor at 9:30am. Write 1500 words at 10am. Eat at noon. Answer emails at 1;30pm. And so on.

Why do I go to such lengths? Because otherwise, everything sifts through my colander brain and disappears. I need my marching orders for the day to stay on task (ugh, I hate that phrase). That’s if I don’t want to sit in front of my laptop screen chanting potato, potato, ching chong tomato for hours (it was the last meme I saw). I wish I was kidding.

Another reason is my need to streamline and budget my time as effectively as possible if I want to accomplish my (list of) goals. I have a LOT of shit tasks I want to get done every day. So. Much. To. Fit Innnn! Seriously. Writing, editing, blogging, podcasting, video creating, and regular life stuff- working, cleaning, laundry, cooking, errands…. sigh.

It’s probably no surprise then that I’m always looking for ways to best manage my time & find ways to help me do that. Well, guess what… I found a really cool one!

The one thing I left off those lists was actually something that has eaten the lion’s share of my time on a daily basis: Social Media. Or, more specifically, brand building on social media. In order to grow your presence and connect with your audience on social media you need to post regular content. Every. Single. Day.

Like it or not, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin and the rest are the fastest, cheapest, and most effective way to put yourself and your product in front of buyers. Love it or hate it, you need it. I, along with everyone else struggles with what to share & how to consistently engage my followers without being a pain in the ass. And without driving myself nuts.

Well, it was as if the Facebook Gods were listening to my thoughts (and not just my conversations) and I saw an add for a pre-planned social media calendar. Oh, and not just for nne month, but for the whole YEAR. 365 days of social media posts, boom. (Actually, they throw in the rest of 2019 , too)

No more thinking. No more guessing. Just… ta-da! Even better, the calendars are customizable to fit your business. If I was good at math, I’d tell you exactly how much time these calendars have saved me, but since I’m not, let me show you…

I now set aside two hours of each month and schedule my Facebook posts. As for Twitter and Instagram, I check the calendar and post accordingly. No fuss, no stress. Best part of all, I didn’t break the bank to get these calendars (or all the extra goodies!)
