Guess What?

I just tried a cheap tactic to get you to open this, and I apologize. It’s a blatant, desperate attempt to get your attention. Sorry. But, hey, since you’re already here…

Have You Read One (or more) Of My Books?

If the answer is no, but you’ve read SOMEONE’S book at some time, it’s okay…keep reading. If the answer is yes, keep reading. It’ll be quick, I promise.

Kind of Amusing, Right?

It’s (of course) just a silly spin on what/why authors are constantly asking you for reviews. The truth is, if we get a certain number of reviews on Amazon and/or Goodreads, it helps not only our visibility to the public, but it helps YOU the reader as well, by putting great books in front of you.

Maybe You Want to Give A Review, But You’ve Been Busy

I get it. Do you know how many reminders I have to set for myself to just get the most basic tasks done? I can’t tell you, it’s embarrassing. But if you have 2-5 minutes to spare, it’ll mean the world.

*DID YOU KNOW… 5 stars doesn’t mean you thought the book was perfect, just that you really liked it. 3 stars and below is considered a NEGATIVE review and hurts the author’s ability to grow.

Don’t Know What To Write? Here Are Tips on Leaving A Review:

You can simply say, “I loved it!” and get on with life, or …

Consider these questions when leaving a review:

Did you like the book? Why?
What did you like the most about it?
Did it remind you of another book? If so, which one and why?
Would readers of a certain book, author, or type of book like this? Which one?
How did you feel about the characters – were they believable? Likable? Relatable?
Was it too short, too long, or just the right length?
Did it leave you wanting more? Did it leave you satisfied?
Do you recommend it? What do you want to say about your recommendation?

Don’t Forget the Review Title! Here Are Some Tips & Sample Titles

Write a title for your review. If a friend asked you what you thought about the book, what would you say in just a few words?
Use these three actual review titles as inspiration:
  1. A great read about a shameful past practice
  2. Read, shudder, think
  3. Do not start if you are short on time
What’s your overall opinion in 10 words or less? That is your review title.
