I Did A Thing

Technically, Two Things…

Thing One…

So, I did a thing. See, about a yearish ago, I wrote my book, The Awkward Woman’s Guide To Dating (After Divorce). It’s a sexy little rom-com & a fun read (if I say so myself). The problem was… the title. Now, I knew it was unusually long, and was fine with it for the quirk-factor. However, what I did NOT anticipate was anyone thinking it was an ACTUAL dating guide… for awkward people.?‍♀️
So, yeah, I’ve known for a while that a name change might be was in order, but put it on the back burner… until now.

Here’s The Original Cover & Title…

Here’s The New…

And Here’s What It’s About…

Thirty-four-year-old Keira Travis is getting the hang of being single after divorcing her arrogant, narcissistic husband Darren, and ready to get back out in the dating world. Sort of. Actually, Keira is content with her quiet life—raising her two daughters, caring for their two dogs, tending her garden, and writing her articles for a gardening magazine—but her best (and also single) friend Molly has other ideas. After a bottle of wine, Keira agrees to join an online dating website and the cringe-worthy fun begins almost immediately. Adding to Keira’s woes is a snarky, overly involved narrator who inserts himself into her life at the most inopportune moments. From him, we learn of Keira’s penchant for clumsiness, her aversion for confrontation, and her undying love for all things Fitzwilliam Darcy. This becomes a trifecta of trouble for our protagonist as she finds herself in one mortifying predicament after another. At long last, Keira meets her very own Mr. Darcy (Kyle Darcy, that is) but can he handle the chaos of her life?

Sweet, Right?

Anyhow, the change is a little unconventional, but after long contemplation, I decided it was the right choice. Both versions will remain available for purchase, at least for now.

Thing Two…

Another change I’m making is less noticeable but more significant.  Quickish explanation: When I began self-publishing my books, Createspace (and later, Kindle) offered free ISBNs, which I used, not knowing the importance of having your own ISBN or the freedom & opportunity it gives you as an author (and publisher). What it comes down to, is getting books into libraries & bookstores and using a free ISBN hurts you there (making it not impossible, but close enough to it). This would mean I’d have to re-release a second edition of each book with a new ISBN, ugh.

So, That’s What I’ve Been Doing

The fun part is that I get to have my own imprint, which is Perfectly Imperfect Publishing. Cute, right?! Here’s my sweet logo…

Stay tuned, I’m sure I’ll do more things that I’ll need to do other things to, in order to fix the things that I did that couldn’t be undone. 😉
