Someone. Please…. what is it about buying lipstick that makes me so ridiculously euphoric? It’s right up there with shoes and purses, my one time obsession, but now? It’s all about the lipstick.
What, what is it, you ask? Is it the colors? The look? Yes! Yes! But, still, it’s more than just that. I like the hunt, the mission I send myself on to find the perfect shade of , well, this week, it’s red. Crimson? No, too… crimson-y. Burgundy, Rose, Ruby ( oh, and never mind the 500 names, like Ravish me Red. or Vixon)… no. Wine? Ehh, seasonally I can pull it off. Will I ever find that elusive just-right-for-me shade? Does it exist?! Well, yes…
Yesterday, the miracle happened. Well, actually two miracles. Let me start by telling you that, right along with the lipstick obsession, I not-so-secretly always wanted to get lip enhancements. But I’m terrified of looking permanently like a fish. So, I do like ever other vanity crazed woman does: I buy every lip plumper that promises to give you ” fuller, sexier lips without the surgery!” Generally, they just make your lips red and tingly. But now they have these things that basically gives you a lip hickey (without the ugly bruising- unless you overdo it, that is). Imagine my excitement!! I looked into two. One, the more pricey brand, is called CandyLipz, made popular by one of the younger Kardashians. Another, which I bought to start off with, is called “Fullips” Yah, they worked hard on the name, huh? Well, it’s about $30 cheaper, so that sounded good to me. Anyhow, It works, short term. Typically, a couple hours. And, yes, I’m obsessed.
Okay, so- fuller lips? Check! The just-right shade of red…. CHECK!! SCORE!! WOOO-HOOO!! Sorry, I’ll calm down. But you have to understand: my lipstick routine usually involves the layering and blending of two and often three shades to create the right color! This is exciting! My little darling is called Brilliant Bordeaux, by Revlon and it’s a..wait for it…..a color stay!!! Those (stay on lip colors) usually suck, by the way, but so far I’m loving this one.
Ok. Truth? I’m not really looking to cure myself of this addiction. I just wanted to talk about my love of lipstick. Pretty sure you’ve guessed that by now.
Alas, Spring is upon us, and now I need the perfect pink….. (and no, the 11 shades that I already have will not do, thank you)
Ahh, so brilliantly true!!
